How it Works

SafePASS® opens with a simple motion by alternately pulling the cuff at the far edge of either side. This asymmetrical pulling towards the user, releases the locking fold. As the locking fold releases, SafePASS® inverts to protectively cover the hand and extend over the forearm of the circulator.

At this juncture, the circulating nurse may precisely place the contents onto the sterile field. It is no longer necessary to flip or toss wrapped items onto the sterile field; or has the scrubbed individual participate in the sterile transfer.

Since there are no exposed lateral edges, proper opening also eliminates the possibility of undetected contamination of the entire sterile field. Compared to peel back pouches, SafePASS® has proven to be more convenient and faster to open, facilitating a successful (and carefree) sterile transfer. In the unlikely event that it is opened improperly, that situation is immediately apparent.

This obvious detection capability virtually eliminates the possibility of introducing a contaminated item onto the sterile field. This benefit also eliminates a significant source of concern and stress on the perioperative team.

SafePASS® is most appropriate for packaging surgical devices that can be held in one hand and are introduced onto an established sterile field. As the name implies, SafePASS® offers superior technical performance for surgical device manufacturers; along with the potential to deliver unprecedented financial savings for every acute care facility.
